Washington Square Park

Beginning in the summer of 2015, Chrysalis Archaeology was brought on to conduct all necessary archaeological tasks on a multi-year project located around the Washington Square Park area in Manhattan. The excavation, covering 104 test pits and 111 trenches, revealed 16 features including 2 burial vaults, and 6 human internments. Monitoring around the area where the burials was found was recommended after the conclusion of the project. Due to the disturbance of the surrounding areas, continued monitoring was not recommended.
