      <image:title>South Street Seaport - South Street Seaport</image:title>
<image:caption>From 2005 through 2014, Chrysalis Archaeology worked with the City of New York Department of Design and Construction (DDC) to provide comprehensive archaeological services on two projects located in Manhattan’s South Street Seaport Historic District, one on Fulton Street, the other on Peck Slip. Chrysalis performed archaeological monitoring and testing in each area. Both projects were completed by mid-2014. Combined, the projects documented 183 features and recovered over 45,000 artifacts. Among the features, an extensive range of historic infrastructure elements dating from the early eighteenth century through the late nineteenth century was uncovered. Recognizing the potential for more rich history to be found, Chrysalis has since recommended that all future work be monitored in the area for archaeological material.</image:caption>

The Project was designed to upgrade the 200 year old City Hall Building and surrounding area. During the course of this multi-year project, 42 features were documented and over 40,000 artifacts, faunal remains, and human remains were recovered. All of the findings were considered highly significant, and the individual features which included large cisterns, wells, and an early nineteenth century midden, would constitute National Register Eligibility.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Beginning in the summer of 2015, Chrysalis Archaeology was brought on to conduct all necessary archaeological tasks on a multi-year project located around the Washington Square Park area in Manhattan. The excavation, covering 104 test pits and 111 trenches, revealed 16 features including 2 burial vaults, and 6 human internments. Monitoring around the area where the burials was found was recommended after the conclusion of the project. Due to the disturbance of the surrounding areas, continued monitoring was not recommended.</image:caption>
